Who we are

Pirates: Pomodoro Timer ("Pirates", "we") is an iOS app developed by John Jang. Contact: hellojohnjang@gmail.com.

Data we collect

Pirates requires no account and collects no personal information. We operate no servers of our own. The app sends two kinds of anonymous technical data to third-party services we use:

• Anonymous usage statistics via TelemetryDeck: which screens and features are used (for example "a focus session finished" or "the shop was opened"), together with device model, iOS version, app version, and language. Events are keyed by a salted one-way hash of a per-app device identifier, so neither we nor TelemetryDeck can trace them back to you or your device. No app names, quest titles, or anything you type is ever sent.
• Crash reports via Sentry: if the app crashes or hangs, a report with the stack trace, device model, iOS version, app version, and free memory is sent so we can fix the bug. Reports contain no personal information and no Screen Time data.

Neither service is used for advertising, and we never sell or share this data with anyone else. Crash reports are kept by Sentry for 90 days and then deleted. TelemetryDeck keeps only aggregated, anonymous statistics, as described in its privacy policy. We also do not use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) and never show the App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not track you.

On first launch the app fetches a small configuration file (for example the minimum recommended app version) from our website. Like any web request this reveals your IP address to the hosting provider (GitHub Pages) for the duration of the request; we do not log or store it.

Screen Time data

App locking is an optional feature. If you turn it on, Pirates uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity) to block apps you choose and unblock them when you earn screen time. The apps you select are represented by opaque tokens that Apple's frameworks manage — Pirates cannot read the names or contents of the apps you select, and this information is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere.

Game data

Your gold balance, quests, streaks, focus history, and settings are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app deletes this data.

iCloud backup

Your game progress (gold, streaks, unlocked items) is also backed up to your own iCloud account through Apple's iCloud key-value storage, so it survives reinstalling the app. This data goes only to Apple's servers under your Apple ID; we cannot access it.

Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple account. We never see your payment details. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles payment data.

Notifications

All notifications are scheduled locally on your device. We do not use push notification servers.

Feedback (optional)

If you choose to use "Tell us your feedback" in Settings, your feedback is submitted to UserJot, a third-party feedback service, together with a random anonymous identifier (not linked to your identity). Any information you type into the feedback form is visible to us and governed by UserJot's privacy policy. Using feedback is entirely optional.

Children

Pirates does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app collects no personal information from any user.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
